JOB DESCRIPTION: CHURCH COORDINATOR

Rejoice Lutheran Church Clearwater, MN

Church Coordinator

Reports to: pastor & personnel committee

Status: 28-32 hours/week

FLSA: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Church coordinator provides support to the pastor, staff, church council, congregational committees, and to the whole congregation.

RECEPTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain regular office hours of Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and some Sunday mornings.

• Answer and handle phone calls respectfully and professionally.

• Greet, meet and assist members, guests and visitors with a positive and welcoming attitude.

• Serve as a source of information for members, guests and visitors.

• Schedule office and congregational calendar and activities.

• Create and execute communication programs to advance the core strategies of the church’s mission and encourage a positive image.

• Develop, recommend, and implement the marketing and communication strategies for the church.

• Communicate information regarding the church, its mission and activities to appropriate targeted audiences through communications such as the newsletter, Sunday bulletin, email, blog, outdoor sign and develop other channels as needed.

• Assist as needed with Easy Worship creation.

• Develop and maintain relationships with church leaders and media.

• Assist with the church’s website and social media.

• Supervise outside vendors.

• Supervise the preparation of bulk mailings and daily mail distribution.

 

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain office equipment and order supplies (church/janitor).

• Run monthly newsletter and labels for mass mailings.

• Supervise preparation of weekly bulletins.

• Responsible for Easy Worship Schedule as needed.

• Supervise and coordinate office help and volunteers.

• Update church management system (parish/financial/giving/time & talents).

• Review welcome pads for Sunday worship data.

• Maintains accurate, up-to-date membership records.

• Special projects as indicated by the pastor/council/ministries/etc.

• Manage copyright licenses and report use of songs.

• Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings as requested.

• Provide limited clerical support to pastors, staff and congregational leaders as needed.

• Other administrative duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in a related field is preferred.

• Experience in working in a church environment is preferred

 

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS:

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Excellent keyboard skills and the ability to operate office technology.

• Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.

• The ability to effectively work with a variety of people and to communicate respectfully and professionally.

• Attention to detail and follow-through on assignments and/or deadlines.

• Possess a knowledge of media strategies and processes.

• Must possess the ability to work independently and as a team member.

• Committed to our mission and those who oversee the mission.

 

EVALUATION AND COMPENSATION:

The office coordinator reports directly to the pastor on a daily basis and receives an annual performance evaluation from the pastor and personnel committee. Compensation will be reviewed annually, commensurate with experience and performance. This is an at-will position, and can be terminated at any time by either party without cause.
